Canary Wharf

Found in: East London
Tube station: Canary Wharf
Also served by Docklands Light Railway

Opened in 1991, the commercial development at One Canada Square changed the face of this formerly seedy dockyard. The skyscraper here was London’s tallest until 2010, when Shard London Bridge started going ever upwards over South London.

Today, Canary Wharf Pier and the surrounding Docklands — not far east of the Tower of London — are a real tourist destination, full of England/Europe-specific shops, eateries and galleries.

In the winter at Canary Wharf, there’s an ice rink and an ice sculpture competition, and all year long there are fashion trunk shows, art exhibitions and more.
